The edge tile with one chamfered side is a useful and system-compatible addition to the rubber granulate tiles type FS. The edge tile is used for avoiding trip hazard that can occur at the transition to the rubber granulate surface in case only one section is paved with rubber granulate slabs. It also helps compensate the level difference between the ground and rubber plates surface. Trip accidents can be avoided and smooth driving on it with a wheelchair, a baby buggy or a rollator is possible.

A typical application case is a play island covered with fall protection tiles in a plastered pavement or an asphalted schoolyard. The edge tile is always stuck together with the underfloor and stabilised with a rubber granulate tile surface.

Anthracite

A car tyre is made of black dyed rubber (SBR). That's why the rubber granulate made of car tyres is also black. During processing with a colourless binder, black products are made. Similarly to the car tyres, the colour changes in these products after a short time from full black to a dark grey, also known as anthracite.

Material

The rubber granulate with irregularly formed particles is obtained from discarded tyres. It mainly consists in the high-valuable mix of natural rubber (NR) and synthetically manufactured Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR). The material properties of the WARCO preform largely correspond to those known from SBR. The granulate with an edge length from 1.0 to 3.0 mm creates fine-grained surfaces.

Assembly or connection system

Lateral Connecting Pins - Plastic Dowels

On two sides - between the individual rows of tiles - the tiles are connected with side connecting pins (plastic plugs). The installation must be staggered, i.e. the rows of tiles are staggered by half a tile and the edges of one tile are aligned with the centre of the tile below (T-joint). In this staggered pattern, each tile is connected to 2 tiles in the row above and 2 tiles in the row below by connecting pins. These pins prevent the tiles from moving sideways, but do not prevent them from drifting apart along the longitudinal axis of the plastic plugs. For this reason, the tiled surface must be enclosed by walls or recessed kerbs.

Structure of the underside

Contrary to the standard tiles with connectors, this tile has a homogenous cross section without structured bottom side, without formed drainage. It's laid on an appropriate, bound or unbound base course or on a plastic honeycomb grid. It can be useful to paste it on the base course. Please take note of the laying instruction.
